publishing partnership with eco-friendly publisher
We've partnered with independent, eco-friendly music publisher Just a Theory Press! Our 2023 festival composers will have the opportunity to consult one-on-one with Joshua DeVries, Founder and Creative Director, about the possibility of having their new Connecticut Summerfest piece—and possibly other pieces from their portfolio—published with Just a Theory Press. Additionally, Josh will present a guest lecture on engraving and publishing at Connecticut Summerfest 2023, and festival composers will receive a coupon code to purchase scores from Just a Theory Press in the future.
Publishing with Purpose
At Just a Theory, we believe that our work should make a difference. That's why we publish with purpose: every sale we make helps the world in some way. We are committed to charitable donations, environmentally friendly printing and shipping, and paying our composers fairly.
At least 5% of each sale on our website goes to a charity doing important work (like Connecticut Summerfest!), and over half of each sale goes directly to support the composer. We only print on paper that is sustainably sourced and do our part to limit our waste. Any paper scraps that are too small to reuse are composted and used in local gardens. When we have larger scraps from cutting paper down to size or from misprints, we turn them into notepads and sketchbooks to give out for free with our products.
Applications for our 2023 Composition Program will open in late October 2022.
